Because of the major blizzard that is going to land on Connecticut Friday and Saturday, CONCORA will present “Modern Masters” on its scheduled snow date, which is Monday, February 11, at 7:30 pm at South Church in New Britain.
Though good weather is expected for Sunday, the storm has forced cancellation of our Friday and Saturday rehearsals. We had only four regular rehearsals plus the dress rehearsal scheduled for this concert, and with the loss of two rehearsals, it really made sense to postpone the concert by one day. We’ll have a long rehearsal on Sunday afternoon, instead, then present the program on Monday night.

CONCORA celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten and the 90th birthday of Ned Rorem with a concert featuring works of these two musical masters of choral composition. Features Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia and selections from Rorem’s Seven Motets for the Church Year. Masterful works from other composers such as Eric Whitacre and John Rutter add to the celebration.
General admission $25, students $10.
